Ricardo Rodriguez - Class of 2020

"Follow what you love to do and never give up on your dreams"

Name someone who inspires you.

That would be Mr. Kramer. He's pretty cool. He's a chill person. I really enjoyed being in his class and he inspired me to do better in Spanish and to do good on the AP test. He is a pretty incredible person. He's also very funny.

Tell me about a time you felt the happiest.

Probably when I am with my friends. Not at school though. Either being with friends at a park hanging out, or with my group of orchestra friends like playing music together at a concert. Those are always really fun. And I feel happy when playing music and being with friends. Recall a favorite memory of yours. Probably just being with family and hanging out with them. Even during the holidays or just the weekends having dinner. My family always like loving and caring and we always talk to each other and make each other laugh all the time.

What does community mean to you?

Community means being a part of. …. a group of people that all support one another, and you are able to talk to everybody. We're all there to support all of our friends. A lot of people are there for the same goal of like maybe school or some other ambition. That would kind of be community. Boy Scouts would be a good example community. We are all there to support one another and ranking to different ranks and making it up to Eagle which is hopefully everyone's goal in Boy Scouts to make it to Eagle Scouts. As for my music. We are all kind of there playing music together. It's really fun. We're all there for the common goal of just producing a nice tone and just nice music overall. We are all there to help each other with anything and that idea of establishing community is pretty great.

What are you struggling most with right now?

That's a hard one. Right now, I am kind of struggling with finding enough time to practice

playing my instrument, I am taking two AP classes and it's very difficult to find time to practice playing the violin. School is pretty good. It's pretty great. I have been enjoying senior year. I take a third period teacher aid (T.A.) so it is kind of like a little break between classes. As for college, that's a hard one. I just finished all my college applications. I've applied to four colleges, and I am just waiting to hear back from them. I'm kind of stressed. My safety school is always MiraCosta. If I don't make it into my other schools I could always go to MiraCosta and then transfer schools. You'll save money that way too.

Give me a piece of advice.

Follow what you love to do and never give up on your dreams. That can be your job or anything else really. Just try to do something that you love. Find something that you're passionate about, and you won't regret doing it.
