"People helping me within the classrooms knowing that my success does not mean their failure or my success does not take away from their success is really shown at the school, like people helping each other."
What does school spirit mean to you?
Honestly, coming here and being new to this school and district, the school spirit really encouraged other people to come up and be nice to me on the first and second day. But it is also like seeing how everyone interacted and encouraged me to show my outgoing extroverted self to others. It gave me the chance to go out. see people. and talk to them. I’m good friends with a lot of people and have really close friends here. I've been here for about six months so the school spirit really encouraged me to do that.
How would you define community?
Community in my eyes is having some place where you belong. Just a sense of belonging to a set or a big group of people. Of course, everyone has their own cliques and everyone has their own friend groups and that's fine. But there's a push that brings the community together. That's what community is to me.
How would you describe Sage Creek's Bobcat community?
I would describe it as really close to my definition. Of course not everyone knows each other. It's a high school in the end, some people just want to come in and get the grade, which is understandable and admirable in its own ways. But the community here, as I said, it was very welcoming to me being here and seeing the people that grew up together and now they interact and now everyone has this sense of respect for each other. It just really aligned with what I view the community as which was very nice to see.
Being back in person, do you have a favorite memory for this school year? If so, can you describe it to me?
I have a lot of good memories, like this year the spirit weeks have been nice, executed nicely. But if I had to pick a favorite memory. it would be the basketball game against Carlsbad. That was really fun and the hoopcoming game was really fun. But the basketball game against Carisbad, there was a whole feeling we were more riled up on for that game, Because we were down a lot, we did end up losing, but that's not the point. But just seeing everyone's screaming, shouting, just to support our Bobcats. It was a really nice thing to watch.
How does the "Be Your B.E.S.T" bring us together as a school?
Everyone individually trying to be their best is amazing. But everyone working together to become each other's best, People helping me within the classrooms knowing that my success does not mean their failure or my success does not take away from their success is really shown at the school, like people helping each other Like a lot of people build each other up and not push them down, which I realized and I feel like that's how it's kind of showed.
